I probably saw it properly for the first time round about 1994. It was exactly the same moment that I was listening to a lot of Jungle. So it hit me doubly, it hit me because it was an amazing film. It also hit me because I was hearing snippets of dialogue and snippets of the soundtrack in some of my favourite Jungle tracks at that time. The general theme of Blade Runner, which is what it means to be human, is one of the ideas that resonated so much with electronic musicians in the 90s because in a sense for the first time this is a period when the PC is creeping into the studio and is liberating a lot of musicians to do music for the first time. Also I think digital technology, artificial life, genetic engineering, they're everyday and the more all that stuff has converged
