Privacy

When analytics is enabled, this archive may keep first-party traffic records so its keeper can understand readership, maintain the service, and protect Gate Zero. The records remain on the privately administered DiskStation and are not sold or used for advertising.

Identifiable browsing records

When analytics is enabled, public page and archive-interface actions may be stored with the exact network address and browser user-agent supplied by the connection. Offline location and network enrichment can add an approximate country, region, city, postal area, coordinates, network range, autonomous-system number, and network organization. These identifiable event records may be retained for no more than 90 days. Other count-only aggregates may be retained for 400 days.

An IP address or IP-plus-user-agent pair estimates a connection or browser, not a unique person.

Gate Zero

When analytics is enabled, successful Gate Zero logins may be recorded with their time, exact network address, browser user-agent, and the coarse Gate Zero source. Identifiable login records may be retained for 30 days; count-only daily login totals may be retained for 400 days. Passwords, session cookies, authentication tokens, return paths, and protected-media filenames are never written to analytics or login-audit records.

Search

When analytics is enabled, exact normalized search phrases and result counts may be retained for 30 days; daily exact-query aggregates may be retained for 400 days. These search records are not linked to an IP address, browser user-agent, session, or request identifier.

Server logs

When analytics is enabled, raw web-server access logs may be retained for 7 days for reliability, abuse response, and traffic accounting.

Privacy signals and contact

When a browser sends Global Privacy Control (Sec-GPC: 1) or Do Not Track (DNT: 1), the archive does not accept optional browser-action events. Short-lived access and security records may still be kept. For questions and privacy requests, use the public contact page at varnelis.net.
