Torque

The central circuit

Torque is the six-zone central region of the Numogram, more often called the Time-Circuit. Zones 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 form three syzygies—8::1, 7::2, and 5::4—whose Surge, Hold, and Sink currents rotate through an anticlockwise cycle. The upper 6::3 and lower 9::0 loops break away as Warp and Plex (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 237–238, 424).

The overview defines each current as the difference produced by a nine-sum syzygy and its destination as the numerically corresponding tractor-zone, so 8::1 produces 7, 7::2 produces 5, and 5::4 produces 1 (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 1). These three destinations close the primary circulation as Surge reaches Zone 7, Hold reaches Zone 5, and Sink reaches Zone 1 (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone7.pdf, p. 3; Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone5.pdf, p. 3; Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone1.pdf, p. 3).

The syzygetic carriers add a demonological vocabulary to the same arithmetic: Murrumur carries 8::1/Surge, Oddubb carries 7::2/Hold, and Katak carries 5::4/Sink (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 317, 321, 324). This is why the glossary calls the Time-Circuit both a strata-cycle made by three currents and a triadic system of syzygetic chronodemons (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 424).

Channels, reinforcement, and exits

The zone dossiers repeatedly call these six the “Torque-region Zones”: Zone 1 receives three Torque channels, Zone 4 carries the only pro-cyclic channel, and Zone 7 the only counter-cyclic one; Zone 8 opens the sole escape from Torque into Plex. Torque is therefore neither a static band nor an extra current but the organized field produced by three currents and complicated by secondary channel traffic (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 257, 275, 294, 300).

Gate 1 connects Zone 1 to itself, making a metastable miniature of Torque in which the same zone is both beginning and end (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone1.pdf, p. 3). Gate 10 carries Zone 4 forward to Zone 1 as the region's sole pro-cyclic channel, reinforcing the Sink Current and its movement toward termination (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone4.pdf, pp. 3–4). Gate 28 also ends in Zone 1 but is the sole counter-cyclic path, producing the “fold-type” anomaly named the Gate of Relapse (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone7.pdf, pp. 3–4).

The central cycle is consequently porous at both outer borders: Gate 3 sends a channel from Zone 2 into Warp, Gate 15 takes Zone 5 to Warp, and Gate 36 takes Zone 8 into Plex (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone2.pdf, pp. 3–4; Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone5.pdf, pp. 3–4; Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone8.pdf, pp. 3–4). Calling Torque a “central region” therefore describes its position and cyclic integration, not a closed container insulated from outer time (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 1).

Comparative time models

The Pandemonium commentary attributes the name “Time-Circuit” or “Domain of Chronos” to the fictional Peter Vysparov and has Echidna Stillwell rename it the “Hex” through its six-step digital correspondence with the I Ching. This mythic and comparative overlay is part of CCRU's fictional apparatus, not an independent history of either Greek or Chinese systems (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 336–338).

The numerical comparison is precise within the apparatus: digitally reduced powers of two cycle through 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, while nine-sum pairing groups those values as 8::1, 7::2, and 5::4 (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 2). The source also notes a triadic residue excluded from that six-value binary cycle, so its comparison does not simply identify decimal Numogram and I Ching without remainder (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 2).

In the fictional ethnography of the Nma, the same circuit becomes a hydrocycle: undivided oceanic water passes through cloud-building and downpour before returning to the abyss (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 3). Murrumur, Oddubb, and Katak are attached respectively to sea, steaming swamp, and raging storm, turning the three currents into stages of division and recombination rather than a clock-like sequence of equal units (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 3).

Vysparov's “Domain of Chronos” is explicitly founded on time's disintegration—the killing of Chronos and the regurgitation of the children he swallowed—so the corpus presents Torque as an order assembled through broken integral time, not as an image of temporal persistence (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 336–337).
