Oddubb
Address, syzygy, and current
Oddubb is a fictional CCRU demon: Mesh-23, net-span 7::2, the syzygetic chronodemon of swamp-labyrinths and blind doubles. The 7+2 syzygy joins Zones 7 and 2 and generates the Hold Current, which Oddubb feeds; the Matrix supplements that function with time loops, glamour, and glosses (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 263, 294–296, 321).
The Matrix's complete address is Mesh-23, net-span 7::2, zero pitch, and syzygetic Chronodemon of swamp-labyrinths and blind doubles (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 321). Since the difference between the paired poles is 5, Oddubb feeds the Hold Current; the Matrix does not assign her a separate gate, haunt, or cipher (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 321). Zone 7's system notes independently confirm Zone 2 as its syzygetic twin and Oddubb as carrier of the 7+2 relation (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/Zone7.pdf, p. 2).
Her zero-route has no staged sequence of tests; it directly names time loops, glamour, and glosses as the characteristic operations of the Hold Current's broken mirror (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 321).
Double agency in the hydrocycle
The standalone Numogram makes Oddubb the vapor phase of the Nma hydrocycle, the swamp-lurker between Murrumur's undivided water and Katak's precipitation and storm (Texts/ccru.net/Decimal Numogram/numogram.pdf, p. 3). Datastream 5 describes this transition as the splitting of the waters and the amphibious acquisition of lungs, translating the Hold Current into a fictional evolutionary crossing (Texts/Ccru Datastream/Ccru Datastream 5 - Apocalypse, Been in Effect_.pdf, p. 4). The same passage defines Oddubb's movement as ambiguous and elusive, calls her a duplicitous “double-agency,” and gives her a horror of the fully landlocked dryness associated with Katak (Texts/Ccru Datastream/Ccru Datastream 5 - Apocalypse, Been in Effect_.pdf, p. 4).
Tales and temperament
The tales give that arithmetic carrier a temperament. Oddubb is shy, perplexed, forgetful, and prone to silent witnessing: in “The Tale of the End” she forgets what confused her; in the cockroach tale she and Katak are tricked by a creature that seems already to have been made; in the Ixidod story she alone sees the compact between demon and centipede and keeps silent (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 8, 167, 234).
“The Tale of Cockroach” is Oddubb's most specific named tale: she and Katak plan a solar fake-life, but Cockroach runs past before they can build it and leaves both makers believing they have been tricked (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 167). Her sad croak that Katak must have started without her turns the broken-mirror function into a temperament of injured collaboration and uncertainty about temporal priority (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 167).
The Stillwell–Vysparov correspondence turns “Oddubb-time” into a practice of trance and temporal reversal: Dibboma witches are said to return from the time to come and meet Mu dream-witches in the Vault of Murmurs. This is fictional ethnography inside the Cthulhu Club apparatus; it is not evidence of an actual ritual culture (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, pp. 69–70).
CONTRADICTION: The Pandemonium Matrix orders Oddubb's net-span as 7::2 (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 321), while Datastream 5 prints the address as 2/7 (Texts/Ccru Datastream/Ccru Datastream 5 - Apocalypse, Been in Effect_.pdf, p. 4). The paired zones agree, but their order does not (Texts/Books/Author/Time Spiral Press/ccru-ccru-writings-19972003-1.pdf, p. 321; Texts/Ccru Datastream/Ccru Datastream 5 - Apocalypse, Been in Effect_.pdf, p. 4).
